Gressoney-Saint-Jean is a characteristic alpine village in Valle D'Aosta that lies at the foot of Monte Rosa, in the heart of Valle del Lys at an altitude of 1,385 metres. This spectacular place is perfect for outdoor holidays where you can enjoy sports, both in summer and winter.

Within the village there is the lower square, "ondre platz", surrounded by 17th and 18th century buildings and the upper square, "obre platz", dominated by the Parish Church of St. John the Baptist, majestic and powerful with Gothic inscriptions dating back to the 16th century. The bronze bust of Queen Margherita of Savoy dominates the facade.
The royal family chose Gressoney-Saint-Jean as its usual holiday resort, and in fact the fairy-tale and majestic Savoy Castle, with its enchanting view of Monte Rosa, dominates Gressoney. Another residence favoured by the queen was Villa Margherita, now the seat of the Municipality of Gressoney-Saint-Jean. It is a fabulous example of Art Nouveau and is home to the Walser Cultural Centre, which keeps alive the memory of the Walser population that has left an unmistakable imprint on the entire area.
